Volunteers are critical to the mission of the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas. Each WFA initiative relies heavily on teams of dedicated volunteers to further our mission within the state – through board and committee membership, fundraising events and programs, and assisting with administrative work in the office. Volunteer opportunities will be posted on our blog and social media as they are added here.
Volunteering with the WFA will allow you to become engaged in the mission of the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas by sharing your time, talent, and treasure to better the lives of Arkansas’s women and girls.
- Event Volunteers: WFA’s volunteers are always welcome to attend the event for which they are volunteering for no cost; however, donations are always appreciated.
- Girls of Promise Conference Volunteers: Volunteers who fulfill one or more roles at Girls of Promise conferences receive a volunteer t-shirt and goodie bag.

Regional Grant Making Committees
WFA’s Grant Making program promotes ideas and supports projects and programs that assist Arkansas women and girls in achieving their full potential. WFA uses specific criteria in evaluating grant requests to ensure that grants fulfill the parameters of its mission. Grant-making committee members receive training in understanding WFA grant guidelines, evaluating requests and making site visits.
The Women’s Foundation will oversee and facilitate the activities of these committees. The committees function as “satellite” grant-making entities for the Foundation – making recommendations for grants addressing issues pertinent to women and girls in their area to the Board Grants Committee for consideration. A limited number of roles available each year.
Committee Member Responsibilities
Regional Grant Making Committee members are required to the following time commitments:
- Attend Kick-off/Orientation meeting (mandatory for new members)
- Review 1-5 Letters of Interest
- Attend a pre-screening meeting (mandatory)
- Participate in site visit training (mandatory for new members)
- Site visits (conducted in teams; mandatory; teams self-schedule)
- Attend final grant review meeting (mandatory)
Complete the online volunteer registration form. The form is streamlined for all committee applications and volunteer roles. First-time volunteers are required to sign a waiver that will be kept on file. A member of the WFA staff, committee chair or committee’s volunteer coordinator will follow up with every received committee application and volunteer sign-up form.

What if even a fraction of the billions of dollars generated by search engine advertisers was directed towards good causes? That is the concept behind GoodSearch.com, a Yahoo-powered Internet search engine that donates 50% of its revenue, approximately a penny per search, to the charities designated by its users.
“We know there are a lot of people who want to do good but may not have the time or the money to help out.” said Ken Ramberg, Co-Founder of GoodSearch and former President of JOBTRAK, the largest online career site for college students (now a division of Monster.com). “GoodSearch’s patented technology makes it as easy as possible. We’ve taken something people do every day — search the Internet — and have turned it into doing good.”
“With so many companies entering the Internet technology space, those with robust intellectual property portfolios will likely be the ones most trusted by their partners and customers. The issuance of patent 7,769,738 will provide our 92,000 non-profit and school partners, and millions of users, a high level of confidence when utilizing GoodSearch’s proprietary search engine to help support their favorite cause.”
